Common Causes of Cracked Tooth

The human teeth are the small, hard and whitish structures in the mouth that are considered essential for breaking down the food. This is done  by cutting and crushing them for easy swallowing and digestion. According to Tijuanadentista, the teeth are considered as the human body’s hardest substances. Moreover, the following are the parts of the teeth that are checked by a Tijuana dentista during an appointment:
Enamel
Dentin
Pulp,Cementum
Periodontal ligament
Normally, adults have 32 teeth including incisors, canines, premolars, molars, and wisdom tooth.

Furthermore, the teeth have to be given proper care and checked regularly by a dentist to avoid cavities, tooth decay, periodontitis,  gingivitis, plaque, tartar, and tooth sensitivity. Basically, these are the common problems that affect the teeth due to improper care. Nevertheless, there is one more problem that is worth knowing about – cracked tooth.

Cracking of the teeth usually happens on the surface of the biting teeth and can be up to the root or below the gum line. It is more likely that with a cracked tooth, the inner tissue gets damaged. It primarily starts with craze lines- lines that are actually tiny cracks on the enamel of the affected tooth and can be disregarded as it causes no pain. Then, it will more likely result in splitting of the tooth if left untreated eventually resulting in a cracked cusp that gives a sharp pain when biting as there are already pointed parts caused by the splitting.

Now, the question you might have is: What are the common causes of cracked tooth? There are a lot of various things that can cause for atooth to crack, such as:
          ● Extreme teeth grinding: by doing this deliberately or not, you are putting          your teeth under great pressure that may cause it to crack if done   repeatedly.
          ● Large fillings: fillings are put to repair the teeth. If they are too large  the tooth might crack.
          ● Chewing or biting something hard: this is very common and it includes    chewing of ices, hard boiled sweets like sugar candies, fruit and or meat bones.
          ● A punch on the chin or lower jaw.
          ● Gum diseases: in this case, a cracked tooth is an effect of an underlying disease.
          ● Sudden changes in the temperature of the mouth: For example, drinking very   cold water immediately after drinking a hot cup of coffee can lead to a      cracked tooth as it makes the teeth brittle.

If you have a cracked tooth, you need treatment. You might be advised by a Tijuana dentista to have root canal or sadly, to take the tooth out. It is best if you would set an appointment with a Tijuana dentista for a check-up. Do not entrust your precious teeth to just anyone since it is only a dentist who can help.
